Ballet, Jazz, & Modern Class Descriptions

EXPLORING BALLET

An exciting dance program for the preschool child that explores ballet, motor-skills, classroom etiquette, and the imagination. Sally’s unique syllabus teaches ballet fundamentals with a fun, easy to understand method for the preschooler.


Ages 3-5, dance classes are 45-minutes & 1-hour each, & 1-class maximum per week.

Attire: Pink leotard, Pink tights, Pink ballet slippers.

BALLET IA

Imaginative and rigorous classes that introduce the student to basic barre technique, arm and feet positions, correct body placement, basic center work, coordination and strength.


Ages 5–9 & classes are 1-hour each. There is a minimum requirement of 1-class per week and a maximum of 2-classes per week.

Attire: Black Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers.

BALLET IB

This is the same as Ballet 1A, but tailored for older students. It’s never too late to start!


Ages 10 & older & classes are 1-hour each. There is a minimum requirement of 1-class per week, and a maximum of 3-classes per week. Attire: Black Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers.

BALLET II

A multifaceted program that is designed to help young dancers expand and enjoy their world of dance. Classes include barre technique, choreography & composition, body placement, jumps, spotting & beginning turns, center work, and Pre-Pointe.


1 to 2 years of Ballet I & Classes are 1-hour each. There is a minimum requirement of 2-classes per week and a maximum of 4-classes per week for students not taking Pre-Pointe. Pre-Pointe students must be a minimum of 10 Y.O. and approved by the director. Pre-Pointe students' minimum requirement of 3-classes per week and a maximum of 5-classes.

Attire: Black Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers.

BALLET III

Fun and rigorous classes that include beginning Pointe work for students 10 and older; choreography & composition, body reinforcement, strengthening, placement and alignment, refining footwork, intermediate center work, jumps & turns, plus an introduction to kinesiology.


Completion of Ballet III or Equivalent, cClasses are 1-hour each, and there is a minimum requirement of 3-classes per week and a maximum of 6-Classes per week.

Attire: Black Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers.

BALLET IV

A dynamic program with tailored classes for the aspiring dancer. Classes include beginner Pointe at barre, some Pointe work in the center, body placement, footwork, jumps & turns, challenging center work, small variations, and kinesiology.


Completion of Ballet III or equivalent & classes are 1-hour each. There is a minimum requirement of 4-classes per week, 2-Pointe or Pre-Pointe/Pointe and 2-Ballet IV/Advanced classes, and a maximum of 8-classes per week. Ballet IV students take the Advanced Ballet classes.

Attire: Black Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers, Pointe Shoes.

ADVANCED BALLET

Goal oriented; this technically and physically challenging syllabus is for the pre-professional. Classes include advanced Pointe work, corps de ballet work, variations, and kinesiology.


This class is by invitation only & classes are 1-hour each. Ballet IV is the minimum requirement for this class. There is a minimum requirement of 5-classes per week and no maximum on classes. All other classes permitted.

Attire: Black Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers, Pointe Shoes.

HOMESCHOOL BALLET

Imaginative and rigorous classes that introduce the student to basic barre technique, arm and feet positions, correct body placement, basic center work, coordination and strength.


Ages 6 and up, classes are 1 hour each, and a maximum of 2-classes per week for this level.

Attire: Black Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers, Pointe Shoes.

SPECIAL NEEDS BALLET DANCE CLASS

Exclusively taught by Sally Hart, this class is created for Special Needs students who can walk without crutches, walkers, or wheelchairs, and follow multi-step directions. Ages 4 & up and classes are 45-minutes.

Attire Girls: Black Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers, Pointe Shoes.

Attire: Boys; black bicycle shorts, white tee-shirt, and white socks, and black ballet shoes.

JAZZ I, III, & III

A super workout to a mixture of Gus Giordano, & Luigi, Horton, Ailey classical Jazz techniques.


Jazz experience is not required for Jazz I. Ballet experience is required and ballet classes may be necessary; decided by the director. Jazz II requires 1 to 2-years jazz & Ballet II or greater exp. Jazz III requires 2 to 3-years jazz & Ballet IV or greater exp.

Attire: Solid Colored Leotard, Black Jazz Pants or Shorts, Black Jazz Shoes.

MODERN DANCE

This class introduces the ballet-trained dancer to the fundamentals of modern dance, drawing on Horton, Taylor, and Cunningham techniques with emphasis on correct placement and attention to transitional steps.


Ballet II & higher, ages 12 to adult, and classes are 1-hour. Classes are 1-hour each.
